John F Hanley

Managing Director

John founded JF Hanley Farm Equipment in 1980 selling and servicing advance farm equipment to dairy, beef and tillage sectors. In 1986, he established John F Hanley Fencing providing a revolutionary fencing service to Agri Sector.

During a corporate trip to New Zealand in 1989, he noticed the high penetration and usage of ATV’s on farms. Realising the potential demand for ATV’s in Ireland, he pursued and won the Honda agency for Ireland’s western region. In 1996 he began importing Honda ATV’s and pioneered the concept throughout the country also introducing a complete range of attachments to compliment the ATV range.

In 2000, John added Amenity Grass Cutting and Golf and Turf to the company’s machinery offering. He introduced new high profile brands such as Kubota and Toro. In 2008, the company supplied and serviced more than 300 units in the west and midlands of Ireland. In 2012, as the company evolved, John introduced industrial fencing providing unrivaled service to road building and industrial sectors, supplying service to County Councils and construction sectors across the country.

As a man of profound integrity John is an astute business man with a passion for farming. He is a natural born leader who instills confidence in his employees.

Still holding the position of managing director and he presides over the continued consolidation of the company and looks forward to handing over to son Patrick in the near future.



Martina Hanley

Martina Hanley

Accounts Controller/Administrator

Martina joined the family business in 1990 as an Accounts controller.

Together with her husband John F, she played a major role in developing the company.

Martina has brought valuable experience to the company especially in the areas of finance; accounting and customer service.

Martina is a firm believer that customer satisfaction should be the top priority for all businesses.




Patrick Hanley

Patrick HanleyDirector of Grounds Care Sales and Service

Patrick is the son of John and Martina. He has work  with J.F. Hanley Ltd for 11 years. Patrick has shown a key interest in the family business from a very young age. In 2001, Patrick graduated from Dublin Business School with a certificate in Business studies. Since then he has also achieved a Degree in Supervisory Management from Athlone I.T.

Patrick’s role in the company began as a parts manager in the Ground Care division. Moving  After a couple of years, he took a second role as service manager. He then concentrated in the area of sales for a number of years and in 2007, he began to oversee the general Management of the Ground Care division.  With the introduction of 2 new brands the company began to grow significantly and Patrick gradually moved away from sales and focused all of his attention on his role as Director of Grounds Care.

Patrick is also heavily involved in the Fencing section of the business. As Project manager he oversees and manages all aspects of the projects ensuring they run efficiently.



Anne Dockery

Ann DockeryCredit Controller

Anne began her career as a telephonist for the Department of Post and Telecoms. After a number of years, she moved to a busy rural agricultural mart where she took a position in the accounts department. In March 2001, Anne joined J.F. Hanley Ltd and immediately assumed the role of credit controller.

As a senior member of staff, her knowledge of the industry combined with the positive relationships she has built with customers have proven to be a strong and valued asset to the company. She has played a key role in the growth of the business primarily due to her enthusiasm and outstanding work ethic.



Gerry Donoghue

Gerry DonoghueHead Technician

Gerry is a certified heavy vehicle mechanic. After serving his time in the U.K. as a fitter, Gerry returned home with 10 years experience and a wealth of knowledge of the industry. He started working with DOMAC plant and machinery as a technician.

Gerry joined J.F. Hanley Ltd in 2000 and immediately took the role of head technician in the Ground Care division.

Since then Gerry has played a pivotal role in the development of the company due to his dedication, experience and his vast array of skills.




Karl Conneely

Karl ConneelyTechnician

Karl is a highly skilled mechanic with a passion for machinery. Growing up on a farm, Karl was always fascinated with machinery from working on his own farm with his father to silage harvesting for big farmers in his local area.

Previous to working with John F Hanley Karl worked in the construction industry and also as a warehouse manager.

Karl joined J.F Hanley Ltd in 2003 where he was initially employed in the fencing division. After a number of years, as machine sales increased, Karl was drafted to the Groundcare division to focus on parts and service taking up the position of  technician.



Donnacha BeeganDonnacha Beegan

Parts Manager

Donnacha hails from a proud agricultural background. In 1994, on completion of secondary school, Donnacha achieved qualifications as a welder and steel fabricator.  Working in the manufacturing industry for a number of years he held several different roles including; machine operator, fabricator and store manager.

In 2006, Donnacha joined John F Hanley as  Head of Sales for all Honda and Kubota products.  He currently heads up the Parts and Warranty division as Manager.



Jarlath O’Malley

Jarlath O'MalleySales Manager

In 1999, Jarlath qualified from Sligo I.T with a diploma in electronic engineering. He immediately began working as a field technician with a large service provider.

Jarlath joined J.F. Hanley Ltd in 2010 taking the position as a Sales Representative in the Grounds Care division of the company. Jarlath excelled in this role and advanced to the position of Sales Manager, his current position within the company.

Jarlath, a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and an in dept knowledge of every product enjoys dealing with customers on a daily basis.






Emmet O’Brien

Emmet O'BrienFencing Contracts Manager 

Emmet has over 20 years experience working in the Irish and UK construction industries. Since receiving his degree in civil engineering from GMIT in 1991, he has worked on a multitude of civil engineering projects for both main contractors and specialist subcontractors.

Some of these projects include road construction, pipe laying, heavy civil, concrete framework, tunneling and utilities.

Emmet joined J.F Hanley as a contracts manager in 2008 where he has won and retained a number of high profile fencing projects.

Some of these projects include:

A three year term project for ESB to the value of €1.75m, this involved  upgrading security fencing to power stations throughout Ireland

A contract with Dublin Airport Authority to the value of €4m. This involved upgrading the internal and external air-side security fencing in Dublin Airport.

Emmet is renowned for his professionalism and his experience in the industry. He has a proven track record of managing teams and building client relationships.



Gerry O’ Brien


Gerry O’Brien of Accounting Partners assumed responsibility for the Financial Affairs of John F Hanley in 2000.  Since then he has overseen the introduction and operation of a very comprehensive accounting system which embraces all aspects from purchasing and stock control to sales and contract completion.  He provided the company with a complete analysis of performance in all divisions through a series of KPI’s.  Gerry’s input has been a valuable asset to the performance and growth of the company.
